Join local NFU chair and Farmers Weekly podcaster Hugh Broom on the 20th May from 6:30pm-8:00pm for a Climate Farm Demo farm walk at Milton Court Farm.
Milton court farm is a 250-acre mixed farm and has been farmed by the Broom family since 1897. The farm buys in Aberdeen Angus x Dairy beef calves which are reared with automatic feeders before being fed a TMR consisting of maize and grass grown on farm. Cattle are reared cattle up to 400kg with some involved in feed evaluation trials.
The farm has also been involved in Agri environment schemes for the last 30 years. Currently field margins, wild bird seed covers, and herbal leys are in place under SFI agreements. Since 2002 the farm has planted 8km of hedges and restored a similar distance through hedge laying. The farm is also home to 6MW of battery storage.
